To promote education and active citizen involvement in politics.
It is our belief that most of the corrupting influences in American Politics could be erased and government made more responsive by one basic improvement. That is, simply for more good citizens to participate in politics. "We get the government we deserve, not the one we wish for," remains a guide-star for a free people. We offer a meaningful movement of political clubs as the most practical means by which a broad citizen participation in politics may be achieved.
Join us January 16th at Cat's Pourhouse, 147 S. Tiffany Dr. in Pueblo West, and bring a friend, as we welcome Gregory George, Director of Pueblo County Public Works Division, to the Pueblo Pachyderm Club.
Gregory George brings over 25 years of engineering, project management, infrastructure development, and power generation experience to his role as Director of Public Works for Pueblo County.
His expertise spans coal, gas, nuclear, and renewable energy systems—including wind, solar, and hydroelectric. He has also gained more than five years' experience in senior management with global leaders Vestas and CS Wind.
Pueblo County Public Works is a department of 171 employees across four divisions: Engineering and Project Management, Road and Bridge, Parks and Recreation Facilities Architecture, and Energy Management. Mr. George has successfully led multi-million-dollar infrastructure initiatives, secured state and federal grant funding, and advanced Pueblo County’s leadership in sustainability, including achieving LEED Gold County certification - the first in Colorado under new criteria.
Gregory's career has seen recognition for building high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and cultivating transparent, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including CDOT, utility companies, contractors, regulators, and community partners.
He was born and raised on a ranch east of Colorado Springs in the town of Ellicott, and after high school, attended the Colorado School of Mines, where he received a degree in Geophysical Engineering with minors in Environmental and Mechanical Engineering.
Gregory is a devoted husband and father of six. He values spending quality time with his family and enjoys working on his ranch in Beulah, Colorado, where he continues to practice the principles of stewardship and hard work that have shaped his career and personal life.
