To promote education and active citizen involvement in politics.
It is our belief that most of the corrupting influences in American Politics could be erased and government made more responsive by one basic improvement. That is, simply for more good citizens to participate in politics. "We get the government we deserve, not the one we wish for," remains a guide-star for a free people. We offer a meaningful movement of political clubs as the most practical means by which a broad citizen participation in politics may be achieved.
After canceling two consecutive bi-weekly lunches, the Pueblo Pachyderms are excited to meet again this Friday, April 19th.
You are invited to join us at Cat's Pourhouse, 147 S. Tiffany in Pueblo West. Lunch costs $16, and you can check in starting at 11:15 AM. We begin with an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance at 11:30 AM, followed by any club announcements and then proceed with lunch.
Our guest speaker this week is Pueblo County Sheriff David Lucero.
The next meeting on the calendar is on April 19th, featuring Pueblo County Sheriff David Lucero. Mark the date on your calendar and plan to join us.
Sheriff Lucero began his career in public service at age 17, upon swearing into the Army National Guard in his native New Mexico. He entered law enforcement in 2000 with the Lamar, CO, Police Department and was hired by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 as a patrol deputy.
Lucero's 19-plus-year career has given him experience in many areas of the Sheriff's office. He has been a Patrol Deputy, Detective in Child and Major Crimes, Sergeant, Internal Affairs, Captain of Detention Operations, Patrol Captain, Law Enforcement Bureau Chief and Detention Bureau Chief.
David Lucero was elected Pueblo County Sheriff on November 8, 2022, and sworn into his first term in office in January 2023.
Sheriff Lucero has pursued advanced education and training in State and National programs throughout his career. He has served as a member and officer in multiple Law Enforcement and Corrections Associations. Currently, he serves on the Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) board, which oversees the certification of training programs, academies, and instructors of police officer candidates and qualified peace officers.
Pueblo Pachyderms is honored to host Sheriff David Lucero at our luncheon on April 19th. His insights and presentation of the current state of law enforcement in Pueblo County should be very informative. We hope that you will join us as we hear from our Sheriff.
